I'm a licensed clinical psychologist who's worked with kids, teens, and adults in private practice for over 26 years.
My special power is I know how to throw sunshine with kids. I am genuinely thrilled to watch kids make progress. I teach skills while we play. We set goals; they meet them; they graduate. It's a dynamic and fun process. Parents are highly involved throughout treatment (except for families with teens who prefer I work more exclusively with the teen).
Too many teens today are phonely. They are so distracted and there's so much intensity and pressure, teens crave for a safe space to explore their feelings and their decisions; no shame. I take my responsiblity as an influencer very seriously. As a mother myself, I have true empathy for all sides of conflict, which is a necessary component of the child-adult transition.
Just like kids and teens, adults need to play. Too often we overlook the joyful bounty of our pleasure-filled amazing journeys. Sometimes we need a quiet, exploratory space to figure it all out. Other times we need skills training. I help with all that. I have special expertise with online safety and screen safe parenting.
Why it works. I believe that a trusting, authentic, and sensible therapeutic partnership promises the engagement needed for real progress. As an experienced clinician, my treatment is goal-focused.I use a humanistic model of treatment for developing a safe, creative environment ripe for understanding and insight. No shame, no blame. I also provide psychoeducation and cognitive behavioral tools for immediate relief from stress, anxiety, and depression. As founder & CEO of GetKidsInternetSafe.com, I'm a screen safety expert and help parents and kids form a stronger relationship while preventing and healing from digital injuries like screen addiction, cyberbullying, and exposure to inappropriate online content.
Other areas of specialty include mood and anxiety disorders, grief, trauma, relationship issues, and transitional issues like divorce and blended-family challenges. I also specialize with behavioral issues with children and teens, including AD/HD, anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, oppositional-defiance, and autistic spectrum disorder.
